By Kelley Lehner

For many months I have been obsessed with nude accessories….especially shoes and bags!  I have several shoes and bags in my Klub Nico Spring/ Summer 2010 collection in nudes.  In my opinion nudes are very chic, classy and best of all elongate your legs and are a great neutral for almost any outfit.  Nude tones are very complementary to almost any skin tone.  Two of my favorite styles from this collection are Juliana and Viva.

I was also very excited to see that this months issue of People Style Watch featured two of my nude shoes.  Gavyn (worn by Halle Berry) and Juliana!  You can have your own pair of Klub Nicos by visiting www.ShopKlubNico.com

Klub Nico was joined by celebrities during the Golden Globes event earlier this month at the House of Blues.  Top celebrities from shows like Grey’s Anatomy, True Blood, The Office and other hit shows were able to get shoes from our new Spring 2010 Collection.  Top styles were Juliana, Georgie, Angela and Aaliyah!  Visit www.ShopKlubNico.com to see these styles for yourself.

LA SELVA — Kelley Lehner glanced at Jane and Monique, then picked up Angela, a strappy number in pewter with a mid-height heel.

“She’s been with me since the beginning,” Lehner said. “And she’s still going strong.”

Lehner’s “girls” as she calls them are the collection of shoes she designs and distributes under the name Klub Nico. The shoe company will be among 10 businesses featured at the Watsonville Holiday Factory Sale on Dec. 5.

Lehner, who grew up in Carmel, started Klub Nico in 2004 after returning to the Monterey Bay area from Brazil, where she had spent the previous seven years working in corporate advertising. Lehner’s husband, who she met at college, is Brazilian.

At home, she was unable to find work in the wake of the dot.com bust, so she decided to develop her own job. She said she had a marketing degree from Pepperdine University, a good eye for fashion, connections in Brazil — a global shoe-manufacturing powerhouse — and perhaps, most importantly, a love of shoes that gave her an understanding of the potential of the market.

“I don’t know how many pairs of shoes I own, but there’s always that occasion when I don’t have the right shoe,” Lehner said. “I’m fortunate. I can go into work and find a great pair on the shelves and I’m good to go.”

Others can find Brazilian made Klub Nico shoes at the Shoe Fetish in Aptos, Santa Cruz and Los Gatos and at Lloyd’s Shoes in Carmel, as well as online

at Endless.com.

Though volume is down a bit this year, Lehner said she’s sold about 10,000 pairs of shoes in the United States and abroad. She promises great deals at the factory sale. She’ll be selling overstocks, samples and discontinued sandals, heels, sporty models and boots for $15 to $65, shoes that usually average $150 at retail shops.

Lehner also has her own “Kash for Klunkers” program. Customers who bring an old pair of shoes to donate to Goodwill will get a $5 credit toward their purchase. There’s no limit to the number of credits customers can receive, but each credit can only be applied to one pair of shoes.
